About the Photographers
Dorje de Burghs
de Burghs’ practice is currently concerned with the ‘personal’ document – the detailing of both the private and social ‘everyday’ in an attempt to engage with and further understand the machinations of the modern world. His current and ongoing work explores a Ballardian undercurrent of unease and inertia, an intimation reflective of the seemingly uncertain future and unstable ideologies currently faced on both a local and a global scale.
Samuel Laurence Cunnane
Cunnane’s current practice considers the potential mysteriousness of the banal and the mundane; and this transformation as seen through the eyes of an individual possessed by the need to find. When we seeks to find something or someone, the banal is no more. It has become the detritus of a life consumed with one goal… it is an almost enviable state.
Maeve O’Neill
This current work relates to the problems that come with trying to form a total picture of the world. It seeks to sketch a picture of the present – an evolving social landscape, increasingly mediated – and in the search for universality which human beings seem constituted to develop.
Ronan McCall
East to Eden is a new project by Ronan McCall. Two years in completion, it documents the historic crossing between Dublin and Holy Head. Moving away from a more traditional documentary practice, the work is focused on the atmosphere of solitude evoked by the journey between these shores. McCall is freelance photographer and also owner and director of the Severed Head gallery.
